On Vacation and Spinner's End!

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 3, 2009, 8:30 AM

On Vacation and Spinner's End

Well, as I've mentioned, I am leaving on vacation early Sunday morning and will not be returning until the 18th of July. I will have access to the internet while I am away for checking emails, etc., but will probably get behind on checking, especially here, so it might take me awhile to get caught up. I wouldn't expect any new art or writing from me while I am gone.

I'll be around here intermittently over the next two days, but today is my husband's birthday and our 5th wedding anniversary, and tomorrow is the 4th of July here in the States, and in between all those festivities, I still have to find time to do laundry and pack for my trip, so I'll be scarce around here after today.

In other news, as I am sure you are all aware, "Half-Blood Prince" is nearly upon us! Thanks to ~Nassstya who linked me to the following pictures of Snape at Spinner's End:

So happy to see more of Spinner's End, but the Spinner's End kitchen...? I have to say that it is much smaller than I have always pictured it, and smaller than I have ever seen it rendered in any fan art either. WB should do their research, because if the house at Spinner's End really was the traditional two up/two down sort of row housing that is common in the old industrial neighborhoods of Manchester and other cities in Northern England, then the kitchen would have been roughly the same size as the sitting room. Lol, clearly I think waaaayyyy... too much about these things.

I'm trying not to get too excited about the movie, because I am sure that WB will let me down, as usual. I'll give them this, at least, it looks like there are going to be some fantastic visuals in that movie, and it definitely seems to have a much darker look in the more dramatic parts than any of the previous movies. It will be interesting to see what they do with this book.

Anyway, everyone, enjoy the HBP movie, because you will all probably see it before me (I'm still on vacation when it comes out)! And I'll see you again when I get back.

The 25,000 Page View Kirban Winner!

Update: And the winner is.... ~Nynaeve-3!!!! with 25,002 page views. She has chosen fanfiction as her gift, and wants a Sev/Lily story with a happy ending that uses flower symbolism/language. What a gift of a prompt! I shall be musing over it while I am gone, and will post the results near the end of the month when I get back from vacation.

OMG, we get to see the Spinner's End kitchen. I have to say that it is much smaller than I have always pictured it, and smaller than I have ever seen it rendered in an fan art either.

But I am very excited that we are getting to see new pictures again. I know that the movie comes out in only a few days, and then we will get to see it all, but it's still exciting to get to see pictures like this. Thanks so much for sharing.
